Expected pay for this position is $18.27 - $20.29/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.
Uncertified Phlebotomists may be considered for the role but their expected pay for would be $17.66 - $19.63/hour.
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Phlebotomist II obtains blood and other specimens according to establishedpolicies and procedures from any location where patients may be present forlaboratory testing. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patientidentification, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture and skinpunctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens andtransports same to laboratory for analysis. This position works independently and as a part of a team, performsclerical and/or computer duties associated with the laboratory, and providestimely specimen collection and routing of laboratory specimens. Maintainsprofessional relationship with patients, staff, and physicians. Duties may vary by assigned area and/orshift. In the absence of a Lead, the Phlebotomist II may assist departmentleadership by performing essential lead role responsibilities. May assist indetermining work priorities, may prepare daily work assignments, and mayserve as a resource person for personnel resolving operational and patientcare problems.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Licenses/Certifications
- PBT (ASCP)
Other Skills/Knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field
Licenses/Certifications
- CPR Certification through the American Heart Association
Experience
- At least 6 months of experience in a team-oriented environment or customer service role
- Experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR) system, such as Epic
