ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works under direct supervision of pharmacists and other pharmacy staff to learn the skills needed to become a pharmacy technician.
- Assists in preparing, stocking and distributing medications. These tasks may also include procuring, measuring, compounding (sterile and non-sterile), counting, and delivering medications.
- Fills prescription/medication orders.
- Maintains inventory and restocks items in the pharmacy.
- Performs administrative tasks such as updating records, keeping the pharmacy clean and organized, and handling billing and insurance documentation.
- Responds to the requests of patients and healthcare providers and refer various inquiries to the Pharmacist.
- Complies with rules, regulations and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy.
- Obtains a working knowledge of the functionality of all equipment and technology in the department.
- Appropriately triages phone calls and takes detailed phone messages.
- Demonstrates professionalism in behavior, appearance and interactions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
IL applicants: License is required.
WI applicants: Registration is required.
