Description
ROLE SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the movement of customer materials to the proper line ensuring the material is ready for use.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations, including machines, loading docks, railroad cars, trucks, and storage areas.
- Obtains production schedule and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested materials accordingly.
- Moves parts from bins or pans to tubs.
- Allocates materials to the furnace scheduling lines following the company’s production schedule.
- Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
- Supports the unloading of the heat treat furnaces.
- Maintains the production information database up to date to ensure that customer orders are accurate based on their processing step so that the appropriate statuses are provided to other departments.
- Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
- Obtains and provides sample parts for quality inspection and delivers them to the laboratory for further testing.
- Reports any problems with materials or transportation to the department supervisor.
- Manages and piles drums, skids, pallets, and other supplies in specified areas.
- Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties to the maintenance department.
- Completes preventive maintenance tasks at the furnace and department levels
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Speak, read, and write English preferred
- Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly.
- Basic understanding of dock and warehouse procedures.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to create and maintain cooperative, team building relationships.
- Efficient time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or up to one month of related experience
- State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred. Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a manufacturing company preferred
