Position Overview:
Provide lean manufacturing support to company lean program. Capable of set-up and operate shaper machines and vertical/horizontal hob equipment to produce quality products and generate gear data requirements for all customer opportunities.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Set-up and operate gear shaping and hobbing machines
  • Maintain clean and organized departments
  • Analyze/interpret travelers and blueprints
  • Line up tooling for machine production (leads kit with required tooling)
  • Complete all paperwork to specifications
  • Set-up vari-rolls for inspection
  • Analyze prints and requirements to determine speeds and feeds
  • Fill out first article sheets
  • Know machines’ capabilities and limitations
  • Make size changes accordingly
  • When able, run multiple machines
Non-Essential Job Functions:
  • Abide by company handbook regulations
  • Set-up DIATEST for initial internal and helix gears
  • Determine need for new cutter or re-sharpening
Skills/Requirements:
  • Knowledge of DIATEST for internal and helix gears
  • Ability to read and analyze blueprints
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to set-up/operate all department machines
  • Moderate skills in mathematics
  • Basic UTS software knowledge
  • Ability to train on as needed basis
  • Self-motivation
  • Basic gear cutting/machine knowledge
  • Ability to make machine corrections to enhance quality
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years experience in field
  • Gear schools
