Position: Mortgage Loan Officer

Responsible for producing a high volume of good quality consumer and real estate loans. Also responsible for ordering credit reports, analyzing data, approving or denying credit requests and collection of delinquent loans.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines and gather any additional required information.
  • Provide detailed follow-up with borrowers and meet with applicants as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
  • Work closely with mortgage processors and branch staff to ensure customer satisfaction and trust in the Bank.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with branch personnel, realtors, builders and developers as lending sources for their referrals.
  • Must have an understanding of all First Mid products and services and a strong commitment to cross sell those products and services in a professional manner.
  • Conducts loan closings. Ensures all documents are appropriately signed and all underwriting conditions are met. When necessary, takes all steps necessary to perfect the Bank’s lien position.
  • Disburses funds on construction and home improvements loans in accordance with Bank guidelines.
  • Manages and oversees individual loan portfolio and maintains asset quality.
  • Develops and maintains existing customer base and builds customer satisfaction and confidence in the Bank.
  • Required to register as a Mortgage Loan Originator in compliance with the SAFE Act.
  • Completed required training associated with job function.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • MLOs are expected to be accessible to clients and referral partners outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred or advanced training equivalent to two or more years in a financial institution or loan setting.
Skills:
  • Good understanding and knowledge of Company’s products and services.
  • Good cross-selling, management, and organizational skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to interact with customers and potential customers in a professional manner.
  • Adequate knowledge of both internal policies and procedures and the respective state and federal laws and regulations governing departmental functions to ensure performance of individual job duties within the proper control environment.
